Prime Minister Justin Trudeau believes that the 15 th anniversary of Confederation is the opportunity to “celebrate the achievements of our great country, to reflect on our past and at the present moment, and to look to the future with insurance “.
In a communiqué, Mr. Trudeau recalled that at the heart of Canadian history, “there are millions of ordinary people who do extraordinary things”.
He points out that “our land” is that of the indigenous peoples, those who settled there, and newcomers.
The Prime Minister also indicates that Canada has embedded the most cherished values in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms: equality, diversity, individual freedom and both official languages.
Justin Trudeau says Canada is destined for a bright future and great responsibilities. Over the next 150 years, “we will continue to face the biggest challenges we face, with climate change being among the first.”
He adds: “We will overcome the difficulties as we have always done – working with determination, determination and hope.”
