Smoking pot may make you want to eat, but it seems that CBD can be a great tool to help you manage your weight.
The list of health benefits that are associated with CBD oil seems to be continually increasing, and now the compound is touted as a useful tool that provides weight management.
CBD has been the subject of scientific studies for the past decades, and the cannabinoid has been found to be extremely important for the body’s endocannabinoid system which is responsible for regulating the appetite.
CBD doesn’t make some too obvious connections with receptors, but it has been proved to have significant effects on the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system.
Cannabis and appetite
When you’re thinking about cannabis and hunger, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is “munchies.”
It’s really common to get thirsty or hungry after you consume cannabis with THC.
There’s a study that has been made on animals showing that CBD has the exact opposite effect on appetite. The rats that have consumed CBD also consumed less food.
CBD helps you burn calories
Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry also featured research that showed the fact that CBD can help with weight loss by increasing the levels of brown fat, which can help to burn calories.
CBD does this by activating genes and proteins that facilitate the breakdown of fat. It also inhibits proteins that create fat cells through a process called lipogenesis.
Some may find that a small dosage of CBD such as 10mg can help with weight loss and other might realize that a higher dosage is needed. Anyway, more research is required, but it’s certain that CBD has high potential to help with weight loss.
You would still need a healthy diet and exercise to have a healthy weight and overall quality of life.
