The famous modern family that inspired the whole world in 2014 is now presumed dead. Their vehicle plunged off a cliff. Authorities have stated that the Hart family was inside that vehicle: the parents were found dead inside the car, three of the children were dead outside it and the other three children are still missing.
Out of the missing children, there was also Devonte, the boy who got famous in 2014 by hugging a Police officer at a protest.
It seems that because of the spotlights shone on the family, the Harts decided to leave Washington State and settle somewhere more peaceful.
Sheriff Tom Allman of Mendocino County: ‘all six children were in there’…
“We have every indication to believe that all six children were in there, however only three bodies have been recovered. We have no evidence and no reason to believe this was an intentional act. Certainly people are wondering what caused this,” stated Sheriff Tom Allman.
The authorities hope that the other children remained home at friends. The Sheriff didn’t know how the accident took place.
What’s worrying is that the road was 75 feet away from the cliff and there were no skid marks to show that it was an accident. Unfortunately, there were no witnesses to provide answers.
Reports of Abuse and Neglect
However, after the terrible tragedy, reports about the family started to appear. The parents, Jennifer and Sarah Hart, have together adopted six children. There were reports of “abuse or neglect in the home,” said Norah West, a spokeswoman with the Department of Social and Health Services.
Dana DeKalb, a neighbor of the Harts stated that several times a day, Devonte Hart came to their door to ask for food. Dana said that the mothers sometimes punished their children by not giving them food or allowing them to go outside.
She then called the Child Protective Services that came to check on the Harts, who didn’t want to open the door. Court records show that a woman with Sarah Hart name was convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault in 2011, in Minnesota, where Sarah Hart has lived for years before moving away.
Until now, only the bodies of Markis (19), Jeremiah (14), and Abigail (14) were identified. Devonte (15), Hannah (16), and Sierra (12) are still missing.
